Prof. Kevin C. Chang
Public lecture: “In times of war, the law falls silent?”
The International College of Innovation cordially invites students to join their May Public Lecture on the topic: “In times of war, the law falls silent? How international law prevents mass atrocities and brings justice to the gravest crimes”.
As Russia’s war against Ukraine continues, new evidence of atrocities are emerging daily. Even though international law prohibits the commission of serious crimes and aggression against states, these cornerstone rules are too often violated on the battlefield. How has international law proven to be effective and resilient despite its limitations? What are the implications for Taiwan?
The speaker will be Prof. Kevin Chang, who has more than 20 years’ experience serving for the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the Australian Government. He looks forward to sharing insights on pressing issues in international justice through his legal, academic and field experience serving the UN in war zones.
