Taiwan Scholarship (MOE/MOFA/MOST)

Applying for the Taiwan Scholarship from the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) or the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) depends on the diplomatic relationship between Taiwan and the students’ home country.

  • Applicable Degree and Duration: Masters (2 Years), Ph.D. (4 Years)
  • Award Coverage: Monthly living stipend of NTD20,000 and per semester tuition subsidy NTD40,000.
  • Applicable Degree and Duration: Masters (2 Years), Ph.D. (4 Years)
  • Local students’ price for tuition and miscellaneous fees.
  • Monthly stipend of NTD 33,000
  • One round-trip economy-class flight ticket from home country
  • Applicable Degree and Duration: Masters (2 Years), Ph.D. (4 Years)
  • Monthly stipend of NTD 30,000

When applying for the MOE Scholarship, you will need this certification to confirm that IDAS is an English-language program (Link for Certificate).

New International Student Tuition Waiver

Applicable Degree and Duration: Masters (2 Years), Ph.D. (3 Years)

*Credit fees are NOT covered

Newly admitted international students who are not recipients of any other type of scholarship are eligible for the New International Student Tuition Waiver.

Those who meet any of the below conditions are not eligible scholarship recipients:

1. Suspension of study, deferral of enrollment or incomplete registration in the year of admission.

2. At the time of enrollment and during the period of receiving the award, the student has received other scholarships, awards, or grants covering the full tuition offered by Taiwan government institutions or NCCU.

3. Students undergoing study in an international double or joint degree or in a department or program with independent funding.

This scholarship is provided by NCCU and assigned by the selection committee during the admission process. Individual applications by students are not accepted.

NCCU will release a list of the awarded students once the admission process has been completed. 

If you have not been awarded any scholarship, please consult the Office of International Cooperation (OIC) website to check whether you have been awarded the New International Student Tuition Waiver. The OIC will provide further instructions.

Elite Scholarship Program: Southeast or South Asia/Africa

Applicable Degree and Duration: Masters (2 Years), Ph.D. (3 Years) 

Award Coverage: Tuition waiver and monthly stipend (depending on funding availability).

Scholarship quota to be announced and regulated by the ROC Ministry of Education.

*Credit fees are NOT covered

Scholarship applicants shall currently occupy a formal lecturer position at a public or private college or university in Southeast or South Asia/Africa. Nationals of the Republic of China and overseas Chinese citizens are not eligible.

The following are NOT eligible for this scholarship:

1. Individuals who are currently enrolled in or on leave of absence from another college or university in Taiwan, with exceptions for students who are in the process of graduating from a  Bachelor’s or  Master’s program and are applying to pursue a  higher degree.

2. Candidates enrolling in a program that awards a degree that duplicates another degree already held by the applicant from a university in Taiwan (e.g., an applicant who already holds a Master’s Degree from a university in Taiwan would be ineligible for scholarship to pursue a second Masters Degree).

3. Current exchange students or students enrolled in a double (or joint) degree through an academic cooperation arrangement between a foreign educational institution and a college or university in Taiwan.

4. Applicants who are currently receiving other scholarships or subsidies from the ROC government.

This scholarship is provided by NCCU. 

Students must provide a

  1. proof of employment in the aforementioned position and 
  2. the scholarship form (see OIC website to download the form) 
Academic Excellence Scholarship

The awarded amount depends on the available funds for each semester.

Students who have been enrolled at NCCU for more than one semester may apply. Graduate students must have completed a minimum of 6 credits in the previous semester and have an average of 80 or more. A transcript of the previous semester will be required.

Graduate students who are writing their thesis and have not taken any credits the previous semester may apply. Students must submit a letter of recommendation from their guiding professor and a thesis-writing plan. The thesis-writing plan shall include the research motive and objective, research structure and design, data collection methods and sources, thesis outline, reference books and more. 

All students must provide a Certificate of volunteering service that supports the internationalization of the University and the community.

Those who have received other full scholarships are excluded.

This scholarship is managed by the International Cooperation Office (OIC), in September and late February each year. The OIC will send an announcement each semester.

IDAS Scholarship

This scholarship is given every semester and the amount depends on funding availability.

All enrolled IDAS students who do not receive any government scholarship. 

The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize and reward individuals who have achieved academic excellence.

The IDAS secretary will send an email announcement twice every year with the application form and the application deadline.
