Want to be well-prepared for your Qualifying Exam?

Interested in international politics, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region?

Want to be engaged in interactive discussions with a focus on critical thinking?

Want to learn how to apply IR theories and concepts to contemporary international events?

It is our pleasure to announce the launch of the ‘International Politics’ Study Group that focuses on topics that concern contemporary issues of International Relations in the Asia-Pacific region. Organized every second Monday, the interactive and informal discussions create a great opportunity to improve academic skills, such as critical and conceptual thinking, as well as to broaden participants’ understanding of the region’s most pressing issues. The study group is organized by two of our doctoral students, Pablo Orué and Ádám Budai.

The very first session of the study group will be held on November 14, centering on the question of whether or not the good old Realism still retains its position among other IR theories as having the strongest explanatory power in explaining contemporary international politics in the Asia-Pacific region, as many of its proponents assume.

Later sessions will cover other important IR theories and concepts, as well as contemporary challenges faced by inter alia China, the United States, Japan, South East Asia and India and their regional and global implications.

To learn more about the upcoming events of the study group, look for the regular announcements in the NCCU IDAS/IMAS/IMES official Line group or check out the posters on the 12th floor of the General Building.

If interested, you can also scan the QR code to register for the upcoming session of the study group.

See you there!
